CHANT (Crucian Heritage and Nature Tourism, Inc.) trains and employs young Virgin Islanders ages 18–30 through its USVI Climate Corps, offering intensive twelve-week workforce programs focused on skills needed for island sustainability. Each year, they recruit 6–10 participants per island and provide hands-on work in mangrove restoration, sediment reduction, stormwater management, trail maintenance, coastal restoration, and other climate-resilience projects. By the end of the grant period, CHANT will have trained and employed 16–20 individuals on St. Croix and 16–20 on St. Thomas/St. John, helping build a long-term local workforce for agencies like DPNR, the Territorial Park System, and nonprofit conservation organizations.
