Commissioner Jean-Pierre L. Oriol of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) is advising boaters to exercise caution while traveling in the waters surrounding Green Cay and Buck Island during the upcoming sailboat regatta activities scheduled for November 5 through November 14.
Mariners are especially encouraged to remain alert on November 8, when both the BUCK TO BUCC SWIM and regatta racing events will take place. Increased vessel and swimmer activity is expected throughout the area.
Boaters are urged to maintain safe speeds, keep a proper lookout for swimmers and participating sailboats, and follow all instructions and safety advisories issued by event officials and marine safety personnel. These precautions are necessary to help ensure the safety of event participants, spectators, and the boating public.
