Commissioner Jean-Pierre L. Oriol of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) announces upcoming renovations to the boating access docks at Altona Lagoon, Gallows Bay, and Frederiksted on St. Croix.
Beginning November 10, 2026, contractors will commence improvements at the facilities, including the installation of new dock cleats, solar pathway lighting, and protective fenders. These upgrades are intended to enhance safety, accessibility, and the overall boating experience for residents and visitors.
The public and boating community are advised to exercise caution in the vicinity of these docks while work is underway. Boat owners are requested to remove any vessels moored at the docks, and individuals are asked to remove any vehicles parked on or adjacent to dock access areas before construction begins and throughout the duration of the project to allow crews safe and unobstructed access to the work sites.
The renovation work is expected to be completed within two to three weeks of the project start date, weather permitting.
DPNR appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during these improvements and apologizes for any temporary inconvenience.
