The Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) is proud to announce that the Division of Libraries, Archives, and Museums (DLAM) will participate in Art Thursday at the Florence Williams Public Library on Thursday, December 18, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at 1122 King Street, Christiansted.
This special event will showcase works by two distinguished local talents: Master Photographer Eddy White and Artist, Educator, Swim Coach, and Author Ivan Butcher II. Guests are invited to enjoy an afternoon of art, culture, and community, culminating in a meet-and-greet with the artists at 4:00 PM.
Art Thursday is a signature cultural celebration that transforms Christiansted’s historic streets into a vibrant hub of creativity. Held on select Thursdays throughout the year, the event offers extended hours at galleries, artisan studios, jewelry shops, and boutiques—giving residents and visitors the chance to experience St. Croix’s thriving arts scene. From new exhibitions and artist demonstrations to live music and locally crafted works, Art Thursday continues to highlight the island’s rich creative heritage while supporting local artists and small businesses.
DLAM Director Amy DeSorbo shared her excitement:
“We are thrilled to welcome patrons of the U.S. Virgin Islands Public Library System to Art Thursday at Florence Williams Public Library. This event celebrates the extraordinary creative talent within our community and opens our doors even wider to art, culture, and connection. We are deeply grateful to Master Photographer Eddy White for donating a stunning framed photograph now displayed in our Reading Room, and to Ivan Butcher II for donating a copy of the children’s book he illustrated, written by his son Kasan Butcher, So I Told a Lie. Their generosity enriches our collection and inspires both young readers and lifelong learners”.
