Commissioner Jean-Pierre L. Oriol of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources invites both commercial and recreational fishers to a visioning session for Krause Lagoon boating access. This event will feature a “Design Presentation and Boating Community Input” session and will take place on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the American Legion Hall, located at 56a Prince Street, Frederiksted, St. Croix.
This initiative stems from a memorandum of agreement signed earlier this year between the Department of Planning & Natural Resources and the Virgin Islands Port Authority. The goal is to enhance boating access and comfort for small-scale and recreational fishers at the Roll-on/Roll-off Ramp at Krause Lagoon.
Moffatt and Nichol, under the Port Authority’s master agreement with the architectural and engineering consulting firm, is spearheading the planning, design, and development of construction documents, as well as providing construction administration services. Key project components include data collection and site condition assessment, public engagement, program and concept development, and the creation of a master plan vision book. This project is funded through Legislative Act No. 8448.
